Antique 19th century French Empire Gilt Bronze Candelabra Pair. French, first quarter of the 19th century. X W 6.5 in. Pair of four-branch French Restauration period gilt and patinated bronze candelabra.Each columnar standard issuing scrolling foliate candlearms from a fruit filled urn. The tapering reeded stems above scroll supports and three paws on triform bases. The form - with the columnar shaft and tripod clawed feet - recalls ancient Roman and Etruscan floor candelabras, produced in bronze, and rediscovered in the late 18th and early 19th century.
